Gyoza, pot sticker, dumplings and Olokoi

No matter what you call them, who doesn't like something savory wrapped in dough and then either steamed, fried, or boiled? I mean, if you don't like them, then perhaps you just haven't had the write dipping sauce!

I grew up dipping gyoza in Olokoi sauce and everyone my mom introduced the sauce to absolutely loved the sauce with a perfect lil dumpling/gyoza/pot sticker.

Ingredients

  • Gyoza or wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 lb pork (or protein of your preference)
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • Green onions (as much as you'd like)
  • 1 garlic clove - grated
  • tsp ginger - grated
  • 2 tbl soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • Black pepper

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the meat, all veggies, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, and black pepper.
  2. Mix until very well combined.
  3. Grab 1 gyoza or wonton wrapper.
  4. Place approximately 1 tsp of the mixture in the center of the wrapper.
  5. If using a wonton wrapper, use a bit of water to moisten 2 sides of the wrapper and then join both corners. Press down to seal. Watch this video for an example.
    • If making gyoza...i'll make a separate video on how to properly crimp the gyoza :)
  6. In a skillet, add a bit of oil and bring to the heat to medium high. Add dumpling and allow the bottom to sear and get crispy.
  7. Once crispy, add about 1/4 cup of water, and then place the lid on the skillet. Allow to steam for 4 minutes.
  8. In a bowl, pour some Olokoi sauce and enjoy!
